“War Eagle, Arkansas” is a feature film about two boys growing up in War Eagle, Arkansas who form an unlikely friendship that has lasted more than 24 years. The uniqueness of their bond is even more compelling given their individual handicaps. Enoch is a good-looking athlete struggling with a speech impediment, and Wheels is a spirited, smart young man suffering from cerebral palsy and is wheelchair bound. The movie stars Golden Globe, Emmy and two-time Tony Award winning actor Brian Dennehy (Rambo: First Blood, Silverado, Cocoon and Assault on Precinct 13). Dennehy plays the lead role of “Pop”, a grandfather who dreams of a baseball scholarship for his grandson and struggles with his own unfulfilled dreams. Academy and Emmy Award winning actress Mare Winningham (The War, Wyatt Earp, St. Elmo’s Fire) stars as Belle, a mother torn between small time living and wanting the best for her son. Emmy and Grammy Award winning actress Mary Kay Place (HBO’s Big Love, Being John Malcovich, and The Big Chill) stars as Jessie, the hard working, caring but realistic mother of Wheels. Emmy nominated actor James McDaniel (NYPD Blue, Sunshine State, Malcolm X) stars as Jack, a video store manager, part-time preacher and Wheels’ mentor. Also starring, are the young and very talented Luke Grimes, Dan McCabe, and Misty Traya. Luke also has a major role in the soon to be released “The Assassination of a High School President” with Bruce Willis. Screenwriter Graham Gordy, born and raised in Conway, Arkansas, wrote a charming and intimate screenplay that will inspire people everywhere,” says Producer Vincent Insalaco, of North Little Rock, whose production company Downstream People Productions, produced and shot the movie in the summer of 2006 and showcased some of the most beautiful parts of Arkansas, including: War Eagle, Eureka Springs, Huntsville, Berryville, the Buffalo River and other locations.
