Northampton Independent Film Festival Press Release

Northampton, MA - The 13th  annual Northampton Independent Film Festival (NIFF) is pleased to announce its lineup of selected films for this year's festival. Taking place over the first two week ends in November (2nd -4th and 10th -11th). Hundreds of films were submitted and screened by committee and program director Kate Stefaniak. "This years festival will have a fantastic mix of independent narrative features, documentaries and shorts, not to mention our excellent children's programming", says Stefaniak

"I can't think of anything more exciting", says Festival Director Jeffrey Dreisbach. "This year's event will, surely become the most successful in the festival's 13 year history. The film festival will continue the tradition of offering a voice to independent filmmakers with a wide variety of high-quality content at locations throughout Northampton, including the historic Academy of Music", adds Dreisbach.  "Our special events have a full range of choices for just about every interest. From "Kids First" our programs on both Saturday mornings to A special screening of "No Unwounded Soldiers", co-sponsored by the Veterans Education Project."

Among the many films that will be shown during the festival, special praise is being given to several outstanding offerings. "War Eagle, Arkansas" is a character-driven drama about a young man's choice of whether to leave his family and friends for a career in baseball or stay and redeem his struggling community and stars Brian Dennhey, Mare Winningham, James McDaniel, Mary Kay Place, and newcomers, Luke Grimes and Dan McCabe.

Body/Antibody, listed as a comedy, noir, thriller with many festival awards to its credit, "At once funny, sexy and disturbing, Body/Antibody is worth leaving your apartment to go see."  A documentary entitled, Stay Away A Little Closer, by actor, Filmmaker R.E. Rodgers received "Best Biography Documentary" by the prestigious New York Film and Video Awards for 2007 and chronicles playwright John Ford Noonan's battle with mental illness.
