Comment from Oxford Summer Film Festival: Those who failed to participate in the summer film festival on Friday missed a real treat! "War Eagle, Arkansas" is one of the most poignant films I have seen in a long time. I was dissapointed when I couldn't attend the Tupelo Film Festival cause I really wanted to see this particular film. I was so excited when I read here about the opportunity to view it in Oxford that I made sure I was there. My best friend and I were wipping tears at the end of it and I noticed a few others in the crowd trying to slyly do the same! I am going to try to attend a few other times this summer even though I don't live in the Oxford area. Thank you, YAC and Oxford Film Festival for this opportunity!!! |

Comment on the
LRFF website: "I just arrived home from watching this film, and it was off the charts amazing. This is a story of true, unconditonal friendship. Wheels was the character that I loved the most; his dialogue was very colorful. The movie shows that one could not possibly be whole without the other; their friendship was a bond that could never be broken. This is the first time in my life that I've gone to see a film, and actually have the honor of meeting the director and cast. The real life Wheels and Enoch were there as well. It was really interesting hearing how they felt about the film. If you want to see a wonderful film about the true meaning of friendship, then look no further. I recommend this movie to everyone who will listen to me!!!!!!!!!! I would have given it a ten, but unfortunately five stars is the limit." |

Comment from B-Side: (4 Stars) I thought the movie started out with a rather slow moving dialog. Then it began to click as I realized how much that pace seemed so real for the small rural town in which the story takes place. A simpler, less materialistic way of life where people understand that it's not how much you have, but who you have in your life that makes you happy. The story centers around a young man just out of high school with athletic talent that could be his ticket out of the poor rural community into which he was born. A ticket his grandfather, played by Brian Dennehy, doggedly pushes for him to take. The most memorable line in this film should be from an argument with his grandfather when the boy angrily asks, "And what's wrong with being working class?!" Although a serious movie, some of of the honest, albeit off color, dialog had the audience laughing out loud at times. War Eagle, Arkansas is a delightful, heart felt art film about some of the most important things in life; family, friendship, loyalty and character. |
